Ummm another unproductive day...

I dropped the kids off this morning at school, and went to a couple stores to exchange and return some items, stopped by my favorite thrift store (found a dress) then came home and checked emails, etc.. I have not cleaned a thing and it looks like a bomb went off...
I did buy a new CD -its been awhile -and I have been cranking it!

Thats right-cranking it up in the car! I am singing real loud, out loud and LOVIN" it! It is upbeat, hip hop, Christian rock, and it is motivating me right now to go clean the house to some fun music!
Checkout the song "Get back Up" by Toby Mac on youtube!

Phil Wickham - Safe
From the album Heaven & Earth

Verse:
To the one who's dreams are falling all apart
And all you're left with is a tired and broken heart
I can tell by your eyes you think your on your own
but you're not all alone

Have you heard of the One who can calm the raging seas
Give sight to the blind, pull the lame up to their feet
With a love so strong He'll never let you go
oh you're not alone

Chorus:
You will be safe in His arms
You will be safe in His arms
'Cause the hands that hold the world are holding your heart
This is the promise He made
He will be with You always
When everything is falling apart
You will be safe in His arms

Verse 2:
Did you know that the voice that brings the dead to life
Is the very same voice that calls you to rise
So hear Him now He's calling you home
You will never be alone

Bridge:
These are the hands that built the mountains
the hands that calm the seas
These are the arms that hold the heavens
they are holding you and me

These are hands that healed the leper
Pulled the lame up to their feet
These are the arms that were nailed to a cross
to break our chains and set us free

Fee - Everything Falls
From the album Hope Rising

You said
You'd never leave or forsake me
When you said,
This life is gonna shake me
You said
This world is gonna bring trouble on my soul
This I know

When everything falls apart
Your arms hold me together
When everything falls apart
You're the only hope for this heart
When everything falls apart
And my strength is gone
I find you mighty and strong
You keep holding on
You keep holding on

When I see
The darkness all around me
When I see
The tragedy has found me
I still believe
Your faithful arms will never let me go
And still I know

When everything falls apart
Your arms hold me together
When everything falls apart
You're the only hope for this heart
When everything falls apart
And my strength is gone
I find you mighty and strong
You keep holding on
You keep holding on

Sorrow may last for the night
But hope is rising with the sun
Its rising with the sun
There will be storms in this life
But I know You will overcome

When everything falls apart
Your arms hold me together
When everything falls apart
You're the only hope for this heart
When everything falls apart
And my strength is gone
I find You mighty and strong
You keep holding on

When everything falls apart
Your arms hold me together
When everything falls apart
You're the only hope for this heart
When everything falls apart
And my strength is gone
I find You mighty and strong
You keep holding on
You keep holding on

I Still Believe lyrics
Songwriters: Camp, Jeremy

Scattered words and empty thoughts
Seem to pour from my heart
I've never felt so torn before
Seems I don't know where to start

But it's now that I feel Your grace fall like rain
From every fingertip washing away my pain

'Cause I still believe in Your faithfulness
'Cause I still believe in Your truth
'Cause I still believe in Your Holy Word
Even when I don't see, I still believe

Though the questions still fog up my mind
With promises I still seem to bear
For even when answers slowly unwind
It's my heart I see You prepare

But it's now that I feel Your grace fall like rain
From every fingertip washing away my pain

'Cause I still believe in Your faithfulness
'Cause I still believe in Your truth
'Cause I still believe in Your Holy Word
Even when I don't see, I still believe

Well the only place I can go is into Your arms
Where I throw to You my feeble prayers
Well in brokenness I can see that this is Your will for me
Well help me to know that You are near

'Cause I still believe in Your faithfulness
'Cause I still believe in Your truth
'Cause I still believe in Your Holy Word
Even when I don't see, 'cause I still believe

'Cause I still believe
'Cause I still believe
I still believe, I still believe

Well I still believe
I still believe
I still believe

NewWorld Son - There Is A Way
From the album NewWorld Son

You say love is just a word, just four letters in a row.
Just a thing that people say, or they never tell you so.
And you use every excuse, to let nobody in.
Now this cloud you bring around, has become your only friend.

And everybody saying that it's going to go away, but it don't go.
And everybody's telling you one day it's going to change,
but you don't know, if it's really going to end.

But there is a way, there is a spark, there is a hope that you can hold on to.
There is a lifeline come to the rescue, just like a hand that's waiting for you.
And if you believe in this I promise that you won't be alone.
There is a way, the truth and the life, and the way.

But if love became a man, if the word had flesh and bone.
Would you recognize His face, if He came to bring you home.
You think you're all alone, gotta do it on your own, riding solo.
Is there someone you can call, when you stumble and fall?
Cause you don't know, if you'll be getting up again.

Don't you think your life's worth saving?
Don't you know that love's amazing?
Don't you want to lay your troubles down?
Lay them down.

If I thought love was just a word, I might feel the same way too.
But there's so much more than that, and it's waiting here for you.

There is a way, there is a spark,
there is a hope that you can hold on to.
There is a lifeline come to the rescue,
just like a hand that's waiting for you.
And if you believe in this I promise that you won't be alone.
There is a way,there is a way,there is a way.

Truth and the life and the way.
Come on, there is a way.
Truth and the life and the way.
There is a way,there is a way.
Truth and the life and the way.
There is a way.
Truth and the life and the way.
Ooooh, there is a way back home.
Truth and the life and the way.

I should be cleaning...

I have a very messy kitchen, lots of unfolded laundry, and tons of areas that need to be deep cleaned.

I walked my 3 miles this morning, and then came home, checked emails, blogs, and watched Celebrity Apprentice online, then Project Runway...
I have officially wasted the day! I tried to redeem my guilty conscience by baking some cranberry bread...

however it was from a box. The kitchen smells fantastic! My fridge should look like this, but it does not.

I have to finish repairing the thrift store quilt-but a quilter I am not. It is still sitting on my table.
3 hours before hubby comes home, so I best get off this computer, and quickly clean up my messes, and make some home made chicken nuggets! (that I read about on Yahoo while reading blogs no less)
Have a fabulous day as well!

A little sewing project

I got this quilt at the thrift store (where else?!)I LOVED the vintage fabric used to make it...I thought it'd work great for a picnic or the beach.

However, it had some tears and missing fabric pieces...

...I bought an old shirt with a very 70's print/fabric and I'm going to use the fabric from it, to replace the holes in the little quilt.

I also bought a large round quilt with vintage fabric a while back, and it had some missing pieces. I'll need to patch it up. I'll post pictures when I'm done.

Sunshiny Day

I came into the house after taking pictures of my painted star and the sun was streaming in. I thought "Wow! it looks beautiful!" ...I had to share the sun's beauty with you.

My entry...

Now I hate to fess this up but, I usually think "It's so stinking hot!", we don't have any air conditioning, and we use our ceiling fans 24/7.

This is looking out to our back lanai...

The sun was streaming into the living room...meanwhile showing all the dust on my tables that I was avoiding, the windows that REALLY, REALLY need to be cleaned, and the dirt on the tile floor. I ignored it.

Going into my dining room, I took a picure looking out towards the back yard. Lovely sun rays.

My back lanai was looking pretty inviting...I'm thinking relax, read some magazines, have a cold cup of seltzer water...

... until I turned and saw the mess in the kitchen! Yikes! (deep sink is full of dishes)

See what happens when I'm painting...I guess time to clean!

30 minutes later...much better!

All clear!

However,...You DO NOT want to see my room!

A star makeover

Literally a star...
I bought this tin star at a discount store for under $8!

I knew I wouldn't leave it up for more than one day after July 4Th, so I bought it intending to paint it. I used some acrylic paint I had left over from painting my sons wooden letters for their room.

I just drizzled paint all over the star, then took my paint brush and painted it.

The hardest part for me, is waiting for it to dry...so I used my hair dryer to speed up the process! It took two coats to cover it completely.

Next I added black paint into the seams, then I took an old washcloth and wiped the excess off.

When I finished, I hung it outside. Here it is ...

... between my two windows. Above the lava rock siding.

Instant gratification!

I also purchased some smaller stars, and hung a medium one in the boy's room.

I might have a bit of a bowl addiction...

I went by the thrift store after my walk today -just in case anything great was brought in, and I found something..a few bowls!

I snapped them up knowing I would use the smaller ones for the plants in my room...USA on the bottom -LOVE IT !
...the others I purchased, well I wasn't so sure what I'd do with them but hey, they're so cool, I "had" to get them as well.(right?) The pour spout ?... cute!

When I went to put them away in the kitchen, I realized I may have a bit of an obsession with bowls. I took some pictures to show how wonderful different bowls can be. (justifying my purchase of course)
There are my vintage bowls on top of my hutch...

Retro bowls, love the bright colors!

English Mason Cash bowls from my husband...( thinking Ill learn to love to cook) sorry, babe I love to decorate the table!

Stainless steel mixing bowls,

Martha Stewart bowls (kids cant break them)

Green, Home Design bowls (on top of my fridge),

and my $1 garage sale wood dough bowl (on my dining table).

I actually just realized I have more vintage bowls up in the cupboard as I was writing this!

Oh No!
I will try to see how long I can give up purchasing any more bowls.
(Try)

Now... about my vintage/retro glass obsession...

Cheap cheap cheap Salvation Army Wall Art

Here's how I spent less then a child's Happy Meal, and put up a picture in 15 minutes...

First, I found this fabric covered photo album with this cool pic, for all of $3!

Great picture on the outside---not so much on the inside... yuck! rusty,old,etc...

I could tell the picture was enamel and solid (like tin, aluminum, etc..) so I bought it fully intending to take it off of the fabric album. If it didn't work I figured it was a small price for trial and error.

I pulled it off with a bit of effort (lots of glue!), and took as much of the glue, off the back, as I could.

I hot glued a coffee bag clip on the back...

1. because it was easy to find in my kitchen, 2. because it was free and I didn't want to buy a picture hook that would have been more then the picture! and 3. because I have a ton!!

I put a small screw in the wall and ...

Voila! Instant art!

Goes perfectly well in my children's bath.

So keep your eyes open and look for things that can be used in another way!
