No time to craft because of this!!

As a "crafter" I love to make, fix and alter things...however, when my craft space and garage becomes MESSY and I neglect to clean or organize it, and when it becomes the "catch all room" in my house-I "freeze up" in the crafting department .

I feel overwhelmed to go "out there' then get bummed not using this great space for me-and the stuff takes over.


I'm posting these gross pic's because last weekend my husband and I spent the WHOLE weekend (minus church) working on this space. We started taking everything outside-looked as if we were moving or having a yard sale!-because we sorted and purged all day.

We put our Christmas boxes up, and our other "keepsakes", and he organized all his tools, supplies, etc...

Now-you can see all the way inside!

All the Lego boxes and ladders and our little book case fit!
...Early Monday morning I went to the dump, thrift store, resale building supply store, and recycling center dropping off our "stuff".

My tables for stamp class, and all my extra decor items and craft supplies....

The neatest thing , I think, is we made a space for shelves that allowed me to put all our games out, and my TV, DVD,and VHS player, so I can watch movies while crafting or the kids can watch while playing games or working on school projects, etc...
Miss Lily's keyboard is outside where she practices uninterrupted too.

I'm so inspired to get out there now!

I'm working on Lily's birthday invitations tonight!! Tea party pictures to come...

Over the weekend, my husband tore out the old sink and rotten cabinet. He tiled the floor and back wall, then painted, and added under cabinet lights and a shelf for my supplies.
It was very hard to find before pictures of this room...
Here's one with the original wire shelf and the older sink.


I tried to reorganize it -using wicker baskets to hold my supplies...

Now-the after shot!
You can see the lights (on a dimmer switch) and the tile behind the appliances.
My new faucet and sink.
Sweet little shelf- holding my detergent, clothespins and dryer sheets.


Washer dryer all cleaned off. (However, there is 5 loads of laundry behind me-due to this remodel)
All cleaned up with no place to go. I love this and maybe, just maybe I'll keep up on the laundry!

Master Bath Reveal!!!!

I am ready to show the pictures of our new master bathroom. (See my Sept 27th post for more details & Pics of the old bathroom)
Its been awhile because it's been busy here and I'm still prepping for my Christmas party on Friday.
To remind everyone-my old bathroom..
The master bath-where you can't see the dry rot at the bottom of the glass blocks...-nor the bright teal tile in the shower...grey floor tile and particle board cabinet...




Tiling the inside of the shower & the new wall that replaced the old glass block ...

Patching up the wall where the new mirror will hang...Plus new sink and faucet...

Installing new hardware on the new cabinet...

Now...!!!!
All done!!

Lovely, nice and clean.
New shelf on the wall-I love the rosette's on it, and some frames with shells and a leaf-for a natural accent.

Pictures with dark brown frames & jars from various thrift stores, shelf from Ross, new towels and a mini palm in a wicker container.

New hand soap and a Koa wood tray.

Let the Remodel Begin!

Last weekend we took out the cabinet and toilet in our small master bathroom.
This weekend the limestone floor will be installed. I cant wait!

The glass blocks and shower will be "made over" as well....

I have towels, a mirror, soap bottles, towels and accents waiting to be installed...

Master Bedroom Redo/Reveal

This is a long post. For those who like details and good deals. Lots of pics for those who do not.

This is also about the evolution of our room..


When we moved here 6 years ago, I already had our antique wrought iron bed ($25 from an auction 1991!) and I had just purchased new Charter Club "Hotel Collection " bedding, in Espresso and I (we) loved it.

However, there was light carpet throughout the house (stained). I couldn't handle the fact the stains wouldn't come out and the fact that sand here in Hawaii, gets stuck in the carpet as well. Plus, when its hot & humid-cool tile feels so much better.
We didn't have any end tables so I had covered a round particle board with a linen table cloth and called it good. (Until I needed a table for me-then I went on the hunt for end tables for both of us.)

It served its purpose , not too bad.

My sheers were only $5 from a thrift shop.They had texture and when the breezes would come-they flowed gently in the wind. I loved that, as well as the light coming in. My "pouf" at the end of the bed was something I could sit on while I put my shoes on, or something the kids would jump on to catapult them onto our bed. (That- I didn't like them to do.) Only $7 -from..thrift store here.

I eventually found two end tables on Craigslist, painted them black and put new nickel knobs on them. I also found two lamps at a thrift shop,($9 each!) got two black shades ( clearance $5) but didn't like them ...


then bought two white shades from Target and loved the light, as well as the lamps. However-after 5 years-the carpet wasn't working and had to go. I also was wanting darker curtains by this time (not liking the 6am light on Saturdays) and the dark bedspread was becoming faded and worn. Time for a change.


Friday Night out went the tile and carpet. ( I had purchased some brown panels a few weeks ago from Ross)


Scrapped all the glue off the floors...



Dusted and cleaned...

And then Brian started laying out and cutting the tile. Sawyer brought in his chair to watch. (I'll get him setting tile pretty soon!! The others know it isn't too "fun".Small innocent child.)

All done! Nice closet floors! Yeah!

I took all the clothes out of our closets and got rid of 7 bags of stuff!

Next day-time to grout! He also painted the walls "Powell Bluff".

Here are the floors after being grouted and sealed. A slight sheen to them now.

(He lowered the curtain rods for me -very nice husband understands that kind of thing and how it would of drove me crazy to see them "high water" so to speak).

My lamps, end table, wedding pic, new curtains and new bedding.

The panels have the "waves" sewn in, like the bathroom panels. Nice and dark at night, but so easy to pull open in the morning.




This is an article in the August issue of House Beautiful 2010 about "pouf's" - I did not make up that term -but I did buy mine 3 yrs ago!! Before it was "in".

Proof I'm not crazy. (smile)

Our new bedding... White embroidered pillow shams and duvet cover purchased off Amazon, brown shams and coverlet from Walmart.com, and paisley brown sheets and decorative pleated pillow-Ross. I love that store. Period.
