Streams in the Desert...(my favorite devotional)

May 29
Impossible Flowers
"For with God nothing shall be impossible" (Luke 1:37).

Far up in the Alpine hollows, year by year God works one of His marvels. The snow-patches lie there, frozen with ice at their edge from the strife of sunny days and frosty nights; and through that ice-crust come, unscathed, flowers that bloom.
Back in the days of the by-gone summer, the little soldanelle plant spread its leaves wide and flat on the ground, to drink in the sun-rays, and it kept them stored in the root through the winter. Then spring came, and stirred the pulses even below the snow-shroud, and as it sprouted, warmth was given out in such strange measure that it thawed a little dome in the snow above its head.

Higher and higher it grew and always above it rose the bell of air, till the flower-bud formed safely within it: and at last the icy covering of the air-bell gave way and let the blossom through into the sunshine, the crystalline texture of its mauve petals sparkling like snow itself as if it bore the traces of the flight through which it had come.
And the fragile thing rings an echo in our hearts that none of the jewel-like flowers nestled in the warm turf on the slopes below could waken. We love to see the impossible done. And so does God.

Face it out to the end, cast away every shadow of hope on the human side as an absolute hindrance to the Divine, heap up all the difficulties together recklessly, and pile as many more on as you can find; you cannot get beyond the blessed climax of impossibility. Let faith swing out to Him. He is the God of the impossible. --Selected

Rock Flowers

This is from my favorite book-"Streams in the Desert"

"Thou hast shewed thy people hard things" (Ps. 60:3).

I have always been glad that the Psalmist said to God that some things were hard. There is no mistake about it; there are hard things in life. Some beautiful pink flowers were given me this summer, and as I took them I said, "What are they?" And the answer came, "They are rock flowers; they grow and bloom only on rocks where you can see no soil." Then I thought of God's flowers growing in hard places; and I feel, somehow, that He may have a peculiar tenderness for His "rock flowers" that He may not have for His lilies and roses. --Margaret Bottome

The tests of life are to make, not break us. Trouble may demolish a man's business but build up his character. The blow at the outward man may be the greatest blessing to the inner man. If God, then, puts or permits anything hard in our lives, be sure that the real peril, the real trouble, is what we shall lose if we flinch or rebel. --Maltbie D. Babcock

"Heroes are forged on anvils hot with pain, And splendid courage comes but with the test. Some natures ripen and some natures bloom Only on blood-wet soil, some souls prove great Only in moments dark with death or doom."

"God gets his best soldiers out of the highlands of affliction."

Flower Power!

I took some photos of the flowers the kids, and I placed around the house for Erinn's visit. God's creation-FREE and beautiful!

Playing with Batman

I kept all of Garrett and Levi's Batman toys. While cleaning under Levi's bed,Sawyer happened upon the box and instantly liked them.He hasn't seen the any of the movies, but loves to play with them. Quite the advantage to have two older brothers!

Ryan with Britney's father

This is the first time Britney's dad has got to meet Ryan(he is in the military).
I think this pic of him smiling is so cute-I had to share!

In the morning

I love in the morning-when it's quiet ,to go online and read my daily verse. It somehow applies to my life every time! Now how did God do that???
Here's today's-if you'd like to receive them just go onto www.thedailyverse.com!
The sun rises, and the sun goes down, and hastens to the place where it rises.
Ecclesiastes 1:5
What's really neat about this passage, is it describes something over which we have no control - the rising and the setting of the sun. Be reminded that as other circumstances happen outside of your control, someone a lot more capable than you has His eye on them. Attempt to trust and rest in that.

She's Here!

The kids were so excited to finally see Erinn!-We are all happy she's "home".They kept hugging on her and Sawyer kept wanting her to sit by him,and kept handing her his orange, or cheese,& toys.If Garrett,Britney and Ryan were here as well-it would have been a perfect evening!

Making Lei's for Erinn

Our neighbor up the street has a huge Plumeria tree, and I asked if we could get some flowers to make leis. He agreed, so the kids made a couple for Erinn. Here is the finished product!

Cleaning for Company!

I'm always motivated to do extra cleaning, well any cleaning, when I know we have someone coming to visit! I like to put flowers around the house, wash comforters and bed skirts, and do all those little things(like take the huge pile of magazines to the library)that should have been done earlier. My oldest daughter is flying over for a week and all of us will be excited to pick her up, and have her here.I could have picked up stuff Sunday-but didn't,so Monday was a full cleaning day,and just to PROVE how messy it was...

Here are the pic's after we all went room by room cleaning.I made a list of things to do-and the kids marked off the rooms as we completed them.

Water slide!

Our neighbor rented a waterslide for her son's birthday...The kids were on it all day..

Walking Buddies

Because they are on summer break-Ive recruited Levi and Lily to go walking around Enchanted Lake with me...the kept up the whole time and afterwards we went and fed the ducks, then recycled the water bottles.

A Bit of Stampin!

At MOPS this week, we showcased our individual home businesses. I put a basket together to show what $25 would get a customer to start stamping, and made up a "workshop booking basket" with little prizes,a notepad to sign their name & info on, and a scrapbook page I stamped and framed of lovely Erinn. All in all -the meeting was successful, because we all got to see each others talents, and how we can be "stay at home" moms, while making extra money, and using our talents.

Schools out for summer

The kids had their "End of the Year Awards & Field Day" yesterday. The students had races, a barbecue and alot of fun. I took a picture of Levi with his teacher Mr.Hall, and Lily with her teacher Miss Buettner. They both had a great year and I appreciated their teachers so much.

Ok smile!

Now goof off!
