Punches and little pearls

These are two cards from a couple of weeks ago.. I wanted to add something new to my blog-been spending time with my grandson!

I used three different size scallop punches to make this flower. Very fast actually, to put this one together/ I don't like how high I put the words -need to change that.

.

Something sugar & fat free...

...Cookies for my daughter and niece. I saw felt cookies on a blog I was reading , so I had to make some myself.

Easy and sweet.

I already had the beads and felt.

Sewed them while I watched a movie last night.

I didn't burn a patch -like I usually do when I bake cookies in the oven. These are much better.

Love his Hair

Sawyer's so picky about his hair, shoes and clothes. I was surprised after his bath time, that he agreed to some hair gel -from Mr B. He ran out and asked me to take some pictures.

As you can see -he really got into it.

Oh no, a little too into it.

I'm putting it away till maybe ,hum...18?

Men and Babies

Talking about cards now!

You see, I tend to make a lot of girl cards, and I wanted to make my son a card, and a baby card for a friend. (Hope they don't see this...)

I used my Nestabilites for the scallop edge...I just bought them with my 40% coupon -yeah ha- and wanted to see how they work. Love them... I embossed the white paper using my Cuttlebug folder for the dotted background.

Works great with my Big Shot I got for Christmas!

Very quick and easy, then I used a retired set called "Bundle of Joy", and water colored the image.
I threaded yellow ribbon thru the button and used a mini glue dot to adhere it.

Next up-
This is one of my favorite sets! (Up in the Air) bought it years ago and didn't know my son would be Air Force, and now I get to send this to him. So proud. I embossed the background paper, then "pop dotted" the airplane, after I colored it in. Added three "pop dotted" stars to the bottom. Quick card as well.

Lots of shading again...

* Info-commercial...Please remember to say a prayer for all of us, who have family, who are serving...Thanks- from this mom.

Cant wait to show you what I'm working on for two little cuties in my family...stay tuned.

Same Set...

I'm posting pictures of cards I made (last year) using the retired set "Vintage Valentine". I love this little retired set. I love making Valentine cards-I just don't like making tons of the same card. I make something , then think "Oo, I'll make a ton to send out!" Never happens, after the third, fourth card -I start switching up the design, then become unproductive.

I suppose I should have sent this out last year! Luckily I have friends who are in "for the long haul" as the card says!

Cards,cards

Luckily my husband doesn't check my blog-so I'm posting a Valentine card I made for him-at my card class. I used my Sizzix scallop circle die, and my new Stampin' Up heart embosslit. I also used the new Stampin' Up DSP and some small pearls for accents.

I went around the whole card and shaded using my trusty chocolate chip ink. And I added a lovely button for an accent as well.

I pulled out a favorite Stamp set "Vintage Valentine" for this card. I also used some retired DSP paper from a couple years ago for the background. To color the image I used my Aqua painters and ink pads.

I used more DSP paper for the little dress, and glued it on the image.

Then I had to add some glitter to the edges of the heart!

Day off with kids

I've been busy lately, and stressed a bit. House cleaned? Check, MOPS ready? check, dinner??? Uh check, Christmas taken down-uh no check,School work done? Laundry? etc,etc,etc...then tonight while I watched one of my favorite movies (Hope Floats)and worked on Thank you cards, I got especially touched when the mom tells her young daughter -that she realizes she is normal-but that her daughter is what makes her something special. She says alot of other super loving things in the scene as well.
I wanted to go wake up my kids right then (but didn't at 11pm)and tell them the same thing. I've been very busy, but hadn't taken much time during the last couple weeks to make sure I told them and showed them how special they each are to me. I've been spending LOTS of time telling them how to clean their rooms, improve their grades, and change their attitudes,etc...
So I decided tomorrow is a fun, full out holiday -day. A "you're special to me " day.
I went online and pre-purchased tickets for a matinee tomorrow-they'll have NO IDEA till we go! and I'm taking them to breakfast-yeah no cooking! and I'll try to go to the beach afterwards as well. Get out all the indoor energy! Come home and barbecue!
I cant wait to take them and surprise them. Enjoy your day! Hug your someone special!

Card Class

This card was made using the " La Jardin Botanique" stamp set, (The Garden Botanicals). I stamped the flower image on some vellum-then colored the image on the back, placed it over vanilla cradstock that was stamped with the French Script stamp, and then glued both to some Chocolate chip paper. Punched out two flower shapes and attached using a vintage colored brad. I love brown and blue for cards. Lots of smudging on this card with Chocolate ink.
Sorry Dark photo...

This stamp set is one of favorites! Its a retired one called "Pattern of Friendship". I also love this discontinued DSP (designer series paper) called " Sweet Always". I'm bummed Stampin Up' doesnt make it anymore! I stamped the girls on the DSP paper -then cut out their "dresses" and glued them to another image that had been stamped on to white paper.. I put alot of layers on this card -heavy layers=extra postage , but I dont care 'cause I love it!

I have a few more comin up- Ill have to post them.

Playing Music-start of a new day!

First let me clarify-I have not taken down all my Christmas decor, my house is not organized and spotless for the new year and I am not at my goal weight...However! yesterday at church I was reminded that God says His mercies are NEW every morning and we get a brand new untouched day everyday!
So today,as I load my dishwasher, I'm reflecting on that encouragement and I am cranking up Michael Buble's song "Feelin' Good". In case you want to sing along with the song...here are the lyrics! Have a great day new!!

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Reeds driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom in the tree
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when the day is done
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me

Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Yeah freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

No Penalty no crime

Fun Fact for those stressed after the holidays...There aren't any Christmas Decor Police that will be going around, checking out living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and family rooms, to see if you have taken down your Christmas trees, nativity scenes or lights. You can take as much time as you need to pack it all away. There isn't a crime or penalty stating Christmas must be down by Jan 1st or else! So relax, take a deep breath and slowly go for it.

...I do think there should be a prize patrol that goes around and hands out cool home decor items for those of us who take time to set it out , then put it away!

Card Class

Haven't posted cards in awhile.., Here's some Christmas cards.
This set is called "Season's Greetings". I love the wood carved look of this set. I used my blender pens and alot of Chocolate Chip ink to age the edges. I added the button and linen thread, which made it cost 61 cents to mail. I didn't care because I love buttons!

Next up "Flaky friends" This is a retired set as well. I used a Martha Stewart punch for my snowflakes, and added glitter to them. Also used my punch pal set to add the faux stitching.

I like both these little sets.

Sawyer's Gift

When I was wrapping up gifts to send out for Christmas' Sawyer was busy in the living room wrapping up something for me....
My vacuum! bubble wrap and one roll of tape later...even put ribbon on it.

I asked him if it was for me and he said "Yes, 50 bucks!" I told him no it was too much,

so he said "2 bucks!" So I said Sold! Beautiful isn't it.

Taking down Christmas Decor 09

It should read "the ordeal of taking down Christmas Decor."

I need to rethink my New Year's strategy-I end up spending the first day of the year- cleaning! Ugh! I like having all the pretty trees up, and the lights on at night-but I avoid taking them down once Christmas has passed. I end up exhausted because I want everything down immediately, and all other life stops while I'm in take down mode. I think it will be one tree per day. Living room tree -last.

Here's some pic's of my trees before they go bye bye.

Living room

Dining Room-White Tree

Hallway Tree-Homemade Ornaments from everyone

End of Hallway...

Boy's Room

Boys tree- Soldiers, cars, & airplanes

Lily's Room Tree

Master Bedroom Tree- all Non Glass Ornaments & vintage

Master Room

I love them all for different reasons and rooms feel empty when I don't put them up -but the taking down part is yucky. I always forget about this -come 11 months from now!
